Migration of a fashion brand to Shopify

Upgrading a business through Shopify

The Intro

Galaxy Box a one-product Shopify store, which sells awesome galaxy projectors.
Before Shopify they were selling their projectors on Amazon, but had a desire to create their own store as they wanted more control over their marketing, as well as advertise affiliate products.

The Challenge

While advertising your product on your site comes with a lot more independence, it also means that you must now rely on your marketing to generate interest and traffic. The website gets most of it trafficking from Instagram it was therefore vital that mobile and social media visitors had an easy time navigating the store.
Furthermore the owner wanted to leverage their social media presence to advertise affiliate products and therefore wished to implement a feature that allowed them to continually add affiliate products as the need demanded.

The Solution

The first priority was the to make the website mobile friendly so that visitors from social media would be able to easily browse all the content the store had to offer. I did this by making the store a one-page scroll website, where you it is possible to view all the content on one page by simply scrolling up and down. Therefore I also designed a section gallery from Instagram where all the photos uploaded on Instagram would automatically appear on the website without needing to do any manual work.

Finally I added an affiliate products page where the client can add unlimited affiliate products. I designed the page in such a way that the only thing the client need to do in the back-end, is add an affiliate tag to a product and that product will then be shown as affiliate product with referral links and everything. This gives the client more freedom to work independently, so that they have ability to add as much any affiliate products as they want without having to rely on any external tech support.

The Intro

Fashion Sliders is a clothing brand that offers the latest and greatest trends in the fashion world. They have a large catalogue and inventory and therefore need a CMS that is able to deliver a smooth and effortless UX and UI.
Shopify was therefore a no brainer when it came time to migrate their store, as the platform offers various ways to quickly and efficiently import inventories and products from other platforms without simultaneously taking a dip in traffic and revenue.

The Challenge

Large inventories are double-edged sword that on one hand offers the user a large variety of different products to chose from, however if the UI is not properly designed it can often be overwhelming and cumbersome for the user providing a poor UX.
It was therefore paramount that when setting up the store that the products were categorized in a manner that provided an engaging and smooth user experience.

The Solution

Luckily Shopify's new 2.0 version themes offer a great variety of features that massively improves the interface, allowing merchants to set up stores with extensive inventories without sacrificing UX. I therefore recommended the client to buy the premium 2.0 Prestige theme, which gives the store a slick and professional look while at the same time offering novel and unique features.

The first and most notable of these features is the mega menu. The mega menu makes it possible to showcase several collections and pages from one dropdown in the store's main navigation bar, making it much simpler and smoother to browse the inventory.

Then in the product collection themselves I added a color swatches features that illustrates the different color variants available on the page. This further improves UX by narrowing down a large inventory with filters while simultaneously adding a visual element that gives the website a more interesting look.

Finally I added a "Shop The Look" section, which is a unique feature that is only available on a few themes, the Prestige theme being one of them.
This section showcases a lifestyle picture where you see the products in "action", the products available are then highlighted so that the customers can adopt this look themselves. This feature is especially popular amongst visitors from social media who want to purchase products worn by influencers and celebrities.
